While we are a young kennel we have lived with and loved Australian Cattle Dogs for many years, for us they are the only dogs we would wish to share our lives with as friends and companions. We take the responsibilty of breeding very seriously and have adopted this simple philosophy as the foundation of our breeding program; |
There are plenty of dogs in the world. |
With this in mind we strive to breed only when we feel we can make a contribution to the betterment of the Australian Cattle Dog breed and will have only a select few puppies available each year. |
Not only do we look for fine conformation according to the ANKC standard for Australian Cattle Dogs but we consider stability of temperament, working ability and soundness of paramount importance. Our dogs are tested annually for PRA, have BAER hearing tests and hip x-rays are assessed and scored by the AVA though we know that some problems,
such as hip dysplasia, cannot be eliminated by testing alone. For
this reason we strongly emphasise the importance of feeding a biologically appropriate raw food diet and the proper care and exercise of growing puppies.
As a working breed the Australian Cattle Dog requires a lot of exercise and
mental stimulation, it is an animal of high intelliegence that must be
given appropriate direction. Obedience training is essential and
we find that Australian Cattle Dogs thrive on positive methods such as
Clicker Training. We extend a part of our family to each new owner
and will always be just a phone call away for new puppy owners - whether
it be for guidance and help with training, assistance with resolving behavioural issues or support with health and diet planning and we will always look forward to news of our puppies and their families. An Australian Cattle Dog can be the ideal companion animal and can adapt well to any lifestyle as long as they are given enough human contact and are kept active. We encourage anyone interested in the breed to do some research - find out all you can about the breed, go to shows and talk to breeders and meet as many ACD's as you can so you can be certain this is the dog for you. |
