DAY 2 LA to Washington DC |

Woke at the really civilised hour of 8.30am (God I love holidays!!) and watched Denise doing some herding training with her blue girl, Twist. She's coming along well and it was fun to see an ACD working - wish we could do it at home. We talked and played with the dogs in the sun for a while before it was time to leave for the airport. Once again we are amazed by the freeways - concrete everywhere, it feels a little surreal to us. We end up driving 'round and 'round the airport for an hour looking for a park! In the end we had to give up or miss our plane so Steve dropped us at the gate, we only JUST made it! Thanks Steve, Denise and Becky - we had a ball! Some great views of the Grand Canyon from the plane, even from this height it is vast and majestic - rugged, vertical cliffs and the river below looks like an exotic green snake. |

Wendy, Matthew and little Lachlan met us at the plane, it was wonderful to see them again and I just know I was smiling from ear to ear! We drove back to their house in Matthew's new van with the 'No Wurez' numberplate. What a beast it is, with leather seats, arrays of tiny lights around the ceiling (I still reckon they should be flashing and sequenced!) and even a TV and video. |

It was quite late when we got home and met the dogs - Duncan is just as we imagined him and Keli and Bliss are gorgeous, Keli is a little ratbag like Bess. It was sooo funny watching Duncan spying under the door to the sunroom looking for the bunnies! |

We stayed up even later talking and soon it was after midnight and my birthday - Wendy had made delicious brownies for a birthday cake so we had a 'midnight snack' before we finally got to bed around 2am. |
