DAY 16 Arrive London

After clearing customs we caught the Tube into Victoria and walked to our hotel, the improbably named "Vegas Hotel".  We were shown to a tiny little room under the stairs with barely enough room to walk around the bed and a shower that had obviously been converted from a cupboard - but it was spotlessly clean and was about as reasonably priced as you could expect to get in London so it suited us.

After freshening up we ventured out for our first day in London - how exciting to be here at last after dreaming about it for so many years!  First we went to Madame Tussaud's, something that I always thought would be just so awesome and while it was a lot of fun and every bit as amazing as we expected it was incredibly crowded and we couldn't help being just a little relieved to be out in fresh air again and were left feeling kind of 'Tick! Been there, done that!' which was a bit surreal after so many years of wishing for something.

Headed next for the British Museum, we were blown away by the sheer volume of precious antiquities but I guess many of them come from unstable countries and it's far better that they are here in this treasure-trove of booty than destroyed by war in their country of origin.  We were overawed and could spend a lot of time here and as we leave we hope we'll have time for another visit

We were totally exhausted by the time we left and almost missed our stop from falling asleep on the bus!  Had dinner at a cafe near the station and were asleep by 7pm... zzzzzzzzzz......
