DAY 17 London |
|---|
Up at 8.30am after a BIG sleep, feeling much better! Caught the bus to the National Gallery. We've decided to catch the bus all over town, you see a lot more than from the train and besides those red double-decker buses are so kewl! It's so amazing to see works of art that we have known for years in books in real life, it's only after seeing them that we realise that the books never come close to doing them justice. |
|
Next caught a bus along a very scenic route by the river to the Tate Gallery. We were both astonished to walk into the open, airy domed main entrance way to the disconcerting sight of a dead horse hanging from the ceiling! Apparently it was part of a special temporary exhibition but we couldn't find a plate or notice with any more info about it. |
|
Bought a small picnic lunch in a grocery shop and ate it in Trafalgar Square... in the rain... oh well, it's all part of the fun and I can't help laughing because I CAN sit in Trafalgar Square and eat lunch in the rain. We met Will and Rich for a few beers at a pub in Charing Cross then walked around the area eating pizza and ice-cream for dinner. Saw that "Les Miserables" was playing at the theatre here, would LOVE to come back and see it. |
