DAY 38 Chatellerault to Le Haillan

Valerie and Pete in Bordeaux

Finished some washing, repacked our now bloated bags and said our goodbye's to Nicolas and Valina - we will miss them and look forward to our next visit when we will be able to meet little Louis.

Nicolas drew an excellent map and we drove via the 'N' routes to the Thuilliez house at Le Haillan without mishap and without getting lost(!).  We arrived to a sumptuous lunch and relaxed while looking at photos from Marie France and Jean Jacques recent trip to Louisiana.  Sitting in the sun drinking strong coffee after lunch it was tempting to fall asleep but instead we roused ourselves and Valerie took us on a tour of Bordeaux - as always it's great to see a place from a local's perspective and I'm sure we saw more than we would have alone.  It is a much bigger city than I had imagined and I especially liked the big bronze sculpture in the main square, it is a very strong and passionate piece of art.
