We slept in again then had a late start because we wanted to do some washing before we left so didn't get away till about 11am then went straight to Edinburgh Castle.  It was packed with tourists but we took an audio tour and it was good to hear it's rich history.

We took a little time after seeing the Castle to walk the famous 'Royal Mile' - I guess every tourist has to do that once!

We wanted to try to see Jedburgh Abbey on the way down but we were too late by a few minutes so we continued on towards Manchester in a constant deluge of rain (nearly as heavy as North Carolina's hurricane downpour) hoping like hell that Ton would be home when we got there so we could crash out there for the night - she was! Phew!
