To see these magnificent mammals in their natural environment is an awe inspiring and humbling sight, They are graceful, magestic creatures with a complex social structure and have to be seen live to be truly appreciated.

One of our greatest pleasures in life is to venture out in our small boat as they pass Eden on their annual migration back to the Antartic feeding grounds from their northern breeding areas.

Eden is uniquely situated on the south east corner of Australia just before Bass Straight.  This means the migrating whales pass close to shore, often venturing right into Twofold Bay.
It has recently been observed that whales also stop here to feed and that cow and calf pairs will pause to rest in the sheltered waters of the bay.

Because cow and calf pairs are common in this area it is important to observe the requirements set out by the National Parks and Wild Life Services for whale watching (the whales, of course, don't know the ules!).  See our links page for more information about these regulations.
